This Library and Information week, join us on Wednesday 27 July as we launch the ALIA Professional Pathways Consultation in Meanjin (Brisbane) at the State Library of Queensland.
If you are interested in the future of the library and information profession, come along to hear about progress on this boldly ambitious project for a diverse and future-ready workforce. The consultation launch will be introduced by State Librarian and CEO Vicki McDonald, and presented by Trish Hepworth, ALIA’s Director of Policy and Education and library consultant Dr Gillian Hallam.
There are two options to attend the launch, either in-person at SLQ or remotely via the live stream link. Bookings are essential for in-person attendance, and include afternoon tea following the launch.
At 2:30pm on Wednesday 27 July, the first in-person Professional Pathways Consultation Workshop will be held at SLQ. Responding to the information gathered in the Professional Pathways focus group sessions that were held in February and March 2022 and in discussions with members of the ALIA Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Expert Advisory Group, the Professional Pathways team have created a draft framework that is ready to go out for consultation across the sector. We want to hear your voices, opinions, professional experience and gather your feedback on the draft framework, its design and content as well as the opportunities and risks it represents. Bookings are essential for this workshop, and for a second workshop which will be held at QUT Kelvin Grove campus on Thursday 28 July.
Everyone working in the library and information sector is invited to both the launch and the workshop, ALIA Members and non-Members alike. Participants can join the workshop without having attended the launch, and vice versa.
Many thanks to the State Library of Queensland for their support hosting this event.
